As a GC i have always been treated very well by the desk persons at the North Port Building Department, however i don't contract work in the city anymore simply because of the arbitrary way they approve and more importantly disapprove permits, i waited five weeks for a window permit, that said nothing about there own interpretation of egress language in the FBC. the windows (in their opinion ) were 1/4" to small. even though if you pushed on the window you could get it to go up at least that far. this in my opinion is not serving the customers best interest nor the community's. It would seem that they are more interested in creating road blocks to getting theses jobs done in order to some how give there code enforcement people something to do...

We understand that no system is ever perfect. Despite a few permitting issues, we have had a very prompt and positive customer service experience from the entire staff at the City of North Port Building Department. Every manner was handled very professionally.

I received a phone call from a city employee (inspector) named Kevin about a city violation. He treated me like a criminal and yelled on the phone at me while threatening to have to police come arrest me. I have never been spoken to like this in my life. I will be speaking with someone higher up in regards to this. This was unprofessional and uncalled for. Let's hope all city employees do not act this way and something will be done about this.

They interactions with employees in the building has been great. They are very friendly and professional and provide fast service. The city council however seems to have noses in the air and want to run people's lives ran than better our city typical government with fighting within.

My responsibility is to my customer, not the government employee who seems to have a personal issue with the people they clam to serve.

PLEASE do something about the DANGEROUS drivers at the cocoplum plaza. the main entrance by starbucks is a nightmare!! and eveyone coming out of the plaza into the parkinglot is in danger with no view of traffic flow, meanwhile people speed and if you throw your hands up they blame you!!! visitors in our town and the residents should be respectful of where we live but theres nothing stopping them from speeding trying to exit the parkinglot. its always congested. please help!! our children are in danger. this happens everytime i go, unfortunately...... :"(
